Tattoo Appointment Preparation
Following these tips can help make your tattoo experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible!
Remember a Tattoo Appointment can last for several hours. It is best to come prepared:
SLEEP
First step is to get a good night's sleep. A rested body is able to read the signals that your body is sending you so you know what you are feeling.
EAT & HYDRATE
Enjoy a healthy meal before your appointment and feel free to bring your own food and drinks. Make sure to hydrate in 24 hours leading up to your session to keep your skin in top condition.
AVOID
It is advised to NOT drink alcohol or large amounts of caffeine for about 24 hours leading up to your appointment. These can thin your blood.
COME PREPARED
Apply sunscreen to exposed areas before your appointment, as sunburned skin cannot be tattooed.
Wear loose clothing for easy access, and consider bringing a blanket for warmth or cushioning.
COMPANY & ENTERTAINMENT
You may bring a friend for support, but no children or large groups, as space is limited.
Feel free to use headphones for music/movie, but please avoid excessive movements, like video games, to maintain tattoo quality.

Tattoo Aftercare
Tattoo aftercare is crucial for proper healing and color retention. Your artist may use Saniderm, a breathable, waterproof bandage. If you have an adhesive allergy, you can use the traditional healing method instead.
Following aftercare is key to achieving great results.
SANIDERM AFTERCARE
-
Leave the bandage on for 3 - 4 days.
-
**WARNING** If there is red irritation around the bandage, this may suggest an adhesive allergy. Remove the bandage and apply a thin layer of a skin care ointment as needed for the first week.
-
After the 1st day, you will see trapped blood and plasma under the bandage. DO NOT pop bubbles.
-
It is okay to shower with the bandage, but DO NOT submerge in water like when swimming.
-
To remove the bandage, run water on it, then peel in a downward motion.
-
Wash tattooed skin with warm water and anti-bacterial soap.
-
Apply a thin layer of non-scented lotion as needed until the tattoo is healed (about 2 - 4 weeks).
TRADITIONAL HEALING METHOD
-
Remove the plastic wrap covering within 2 hours of getting your tattoo and do not re-wrap it.
-
Wash tattoo with warm water and anti-bacterial soap, and let air dry.
-
Ink and plasma may discharge the first day.
-
Apply a thin layer of skin care ointment as needed for the first week.
-
For the second week, apply a thin layer of non-scented lotion as needed until the tattoo is healed (about 2 - 4 weeks).
GENERAL HEALING TIPS
-
Tattoos typically take a month to fully heal.
-
Do not pick at your tattoo when it begins to peel. Let it peel naturally.
-
If your tattoo is itchy, slap at it. DO NOT scratch it.
-
Do not go swimming in any body of water while your tattoo is healing. This can lead to infection and likely damage the tattoo during the healing process.
-
Apply sunscreen to a healed tattoo to avoid fading.
